2 matching brass oil lamps 1888? ... any help??
« on: July 04, 2008, 03:59:01 pm »
Bought two brass oil lamps at a good ole church rummage sale today.  They have some cut outs of what looks almost like clubs (like the suit) around the base.  there are also 3 indentations spaced equally around the bottom like they were able to be clamped down??  Also upside down heart cutouts just under the oil resevoir.  Imprinted stamp reads ??TCHCO?? LAMP (first line) LOVELL & (eagle imprint) COMPANY 1888?  I think.   ???

Thanks for any help you might have!

The "cut outs" are a common feature of old oil lamps and served several purposes: decorative, strengthening, saved on metal and heat dissipation.

Eagle Mfg. was a major producer of lamp "burners", the part that holds the wick.
