Porcelain Tea Set Possible from 1960 Singapore
« on: August 24, 2008, 03:19:31 pm »
Hi

I have just become the owner of a tea set that my father in law brought in Singapore during his time in the national service in the 1960's. The tea set has an unusual backstamp that is in the fashion of a crown/royal symbol with two ferns. I have spent hours on the net attempting to locate the backstamp but have been unsuccesgul. The tea set is unsual as when you hold the base of the cup up to the light there is an outline of a woman of Asian origin. Anyones help would be much appreciated in locating the style/origin and year of production. If anyone has any information on this product or would like to see an image of the backstamp, please respond and i ill arrange to email you a picture. Thank you in advanced.

your father may have bought it in the 1960's. it's more likely to date to the 1940's it's a called a lithopane. not with standing a possible reproduction.
