Do you know what this is?
« on: October 21, 2008, 01:18:31 pm »
My grandma just passed away and among her jewelry was this piece.  It has her initials on it and she probably wore it in the 1930's before she met my grandfather.  I wasn't quite sure what it was.  Is it a hairclip?  The tong part just looked too rough. Can anyone help?

SOMEONE will have an answer I'm sure!

Its nicely hand carved.. the decoration is not stamped.

Looking forward to seeing what it is!

I will guess that may have been used to clamp the ends of a head or neck scarf to keep them in place, ..... from being blown away on a windy day.  ;)

The alignment of the "initials" to the teeth of the clasp indicate it was affixed with one's right hand with a "right to left motion" to a verticle edge of a piece of clothing.
