Help identifying a pair of vases
« on: November 15, 2008, 06:09:32 pm »
Hi all

Please go easy on me as this is my first post.

I have been given a pair of vases and am struggling to identify the backstamps on them.  The stamps are a crown surrounded by a wreath with a lion on the top with the word "England" written underneath, the backstamp is printed in gold.

I have searched the internet and can't find anything that resembles it.

Any help on the maker of the vases and possibly a little history would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mel  :)

Right here goes - they are probably a load of rubbish but all I know of them is that my Auntie had them for years before she gave them to my mum about 20 odd years ago :)

Thanks guys :)

there a very nice pair of covered vase's. the trademark is a bit blurred so I was unable to trace. but by there own merit. about $ 300.00 Dollars for the pair.

Thanks for having a look anyway :)

Do you have any idea where I could look next to try and find out who the maker is? They have been in the family that long I would really love to find out.

Are there any good databases with lists of makers on that you use? The ones I seem to find only have smaller lists and some want to charge you.

Cheers

Mel

typically the trade mark's on the web. are in common use. as you say the more elusive are on pay sites. my book's don't have it. but you might try the reference section of the library.
