All I can think is it's some kind of condiment server or mini torte server.

I thought it was simply a childs fork. The flat end meaning basic chopping or cutting can be done, the tines mean you can mash without the need for a knife.

It's not very functionable / practical so didn't sell well and that's why there aren't many of them.

Greenacres, I thought it might be something used for tea time to serve petite bites.  But will look into the cake idea further...because it would have to be a cake ball to fit on it!  :)

By-the-way, I have seen a straight up pusher other than the typical bent one like you have shown.  (Still have mine and my brothers!)  But they do make them as a straight piece...but it has more solidity to it than the thingy I have been showing!

Thanks for helping to figure this out everyone...the hunt is on to confirm.......

Found something similar with the banded tines called a cake slice splayd !!  Although when you look for them you get a different variation and the ones on antiquesnavigator are all I found like that !! And couldn`t get it to open so I could check the size !! KC`s and the one that Ipcress posted are all I have found like this,, no matter what I put in the search !!

KC, my first thoughts were when I seen the picture of your fork was, “HA, one that slipped by an inspector”.

I say that because when they are “stamping” the fork blanks out they leave that “cross-bridge” between the ends of the tines until later on in the production cycle.

And plus the fact that those little “dimples” in said “cross-bridge” would pose a big problem when trying to wash that fork   ;D ;D

Cogar, the first time I saw it that is what I thought!  But upon inspection saw it was definitely made like that!

Just found another one...Russian no less!

UPDATE!!!  For those that like to figure out the "what is it" items....

My old pics aren't showing up, but the the pic that Ipcress posted is like it.  Found out that it is referred to as a "sardine fork/server" in Europe.  If the tines are long then it is also referred to as a "cake fork".
