Can anyone tell me about this fork?
« on: December 15, 2008, 02:59:06 pm »
I thought I knew quite a bit about older silver and silverplate pieces....but I am not quite sure about this fork.  Can anyone give some insight?  It has been identified as EPNS Made in England and Kingsway. Is 4 3/4" long.  No other information.

we can be sure it was made in the 18 century or later because it has four tines. kingsway mfg company ltd. newton works london england  designed it. and they were working until at least 1927

They are dessert forks from what I'm reading. There are some for sale on ebay.

I have collected dessert/pie forks for over 25 years and haven't ever seen one like this before.  (I have a huge collection!)  Can you post a link where another like this is found please?!

So this is an odd kind of "pusher" for kids!!!!  Now that makes more sense!

Sorry, don't have it with me to post another pic.  That was from 2008...but still wanted to know!

Had one in with a some silver I was evaluating.  If I hadn't known better I would have bet that someone had "rigged" a fork.  But, it was made that way!

Ipcress, the set you are displaying appears to be a salad set...

The one I had shown was closer in size to a salad fork size!

Yeah Frogpatch.  Just from the pic, the "mouth part" looks wider than the one I had.  But just may be the pic.

I agree the other is a spork!

Thanks always for observations/help!
