I too have a mystery clock I believe to be French in origin.  Mine has the little winged cherubs too.  I noticed parts on the movement are numbered.  Have you checked the movement closely for a name or initials?  Sometimes these are hidden and hard to spot.  I'm guessing but I would say with yours being a winding clock as opposed to a pendulum type, it is newer.  Probably around the late 1800's or so...

I believe they are both french having a thing for the french antiques!  But some markings on the clock owned by temo would help...believe it or not....Italians made clocks with cherubs/marble/etc. that look very french!
I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!
