Wooden chair - handmade
« on: February 25, 2009, 12:29:59 pm »
We have had this chair for 20 years from a lady selling most of her possessions (in her late 80's) since her husband had passed.  Said she had it "forever" and she didn't care for it.

It is well made - sturdy - wooden pegs except at the back leg joints where there are old aged crude metal nails.  The seat is interesting, bowed to fit a derriere nicely...but the workmanship of shaving the wood to look as if they are slats when in fact it is a solid piece of wood is what compelled me to get it in the first place.  There is a very old label under the seat "Made In Poland".

Ideas on age, value?
I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

That has the look of a "bent wood ice cream" chair. I'll guess c. 1920's
