I believe this picce was made by A.E. Gray & Co. Ltd.  Swansa I believe is just a Town.  There was a Copper/ pottery company much earlier but that was before A.E. Gray.  According to the books though this Company operated in Hanley between 1913 - 33, and Stroke between 1934 -1961.  I have two listing currently for their hallmark.  If you can get me a pic of the hallmarks, We may be able to bring it closer to knowing about it.

Interesting Fact is that AE Gray was a porcelain decorator.  His company purchased the wares from several potters and then this company embellished them. Very unique in that his company developed such a good reputation that people assumed he made his total wares.

Today, his company is Portmeiron Potteries Inc. - producing some very recognized and highly regarded items.

I believe that Swansa could be a style or the name of the decoration applied.  A picture is always helpful in finding this out!
