Help identifying furniture
« on: June 01, 2009, 02:20:57 pm »
I have recently purchased 2 pieces of furniture. Both I am assuming are reproductions of actual antiques. Both are made of solid wood with gold gild. Handles on the dresser appear to be either leaf or clam shape design and have a unique crackle finish paint job with floral designs.
I am wondering if anyone knows anything about the style furniture and roughly the value.

I have searched everywhere for a stamp or marking of some sort, with no luck. I found a part of a shipping label stuck to the bottom with what appears to be Chinese. Its a very solid construction and plywood was used between the drawers on the dresser. The chair is finished on both sides for 360 viewing..

Thanks..all help is appreciated

We would like to blame this style on louis the 16th. it is french provincial in style. the clam shell's represent Fertility.the flowers are typically found on french cottage furniture.

$ 800.00 to $1,000.00 Dollars.

Love your wording D&b!  Totally agree with french provincial style and symbolism!
I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

Thanks D&b antiques & KC for your advice. I think you are correct, when I search for french provincial style I see furniture similar to mine. I appreciate your responses.
