Help in indentifying a porcelain mark
« on: June 02, 2009, 07:39:24 pm »
I was wondering if anyone could help me identify this porcelain. It is on the bottom of a old blue and white pitcher that was purchased for $2.00 at a yard sale. It would also help if you could help with a approximate date too.

Thank you

You are inquiring into a porcelain mark.

The mark your item has is similar for the Upper Hanley Pottery Company Ltd  - same design but their says Upper Hanley.

Victoria would be the pattern.

D&b or Chris Marshall would answer these much better than I!

I can't get a zoom in. I do believe that's a registry number ( RD ) number at the top of the trade mark. can you post it for me.

After many hours of research today I did manaage to find out who it was. The W.H. & Co stands for Whittaker, Heath & Company. I found this on a site called pottery uk. They had one identical to it , the only thing different was that this one has Victoria in the center and the other one had Flora

Just surfing on the subject and found another link for you maybe.  Looks like it says it was a hallmark that was used between 1892 and 1898, not sure but thought I would give you another link
