That's an interesting opinion of the age of this item ... how did you figure this out ?

Please tell us how you got this statue , and a little bit about it's history (and how much you think you can /need to sell it for ) .

I'm also curious to know if it feels kind of 'waxy' when you handle it .

Thanks .

we done some tests here and the material that has been used for build of this item are very rare and very old so like you see the LETTERS are in common firs Language on human history so before MAYA and INCAS like some historical friend told me ....

we are group of Free landers we got also other Historical Monuments and other Coins ...

the material is waxy is not SOFT but ALSO is not HARD ...

Just a FYI , darkhistory79 , no authentic articles of the vintage you've described will feel 'waxy' to the touch .

Most reproductions will have this waxy tactile feel .

Sorry to be the one to tell you ...

What a person would be looking at , for instance , in the 'writing' on such a piece of Antiquity would look very much like what you'll see in the image attached .

Typically pressed into clay , not 'scratched' into it's surface .

Well , darkhistory79 , If you really still think that you've got a 1 million dollar artifact , you could spend $1000 - $2000 (approx.) and have it carbon-dated at a lab that specializes in this type of testing .

You could take it to a local art dealer & have them look at it .

You also could take it to a local museum for the same .

Perhaps you'll get more input from other members here , and better suggestions too !  :)

Happy hunting !

Ain't real. The workmanship is poor and the writing looks like a bunch of made up markings scratched into plaster.

I tend to agree - the markings look scratched in.  If you believe that it authentic....spend the $$$ to get it appraised!  Museums are glad to give you a reference for it!

Also agree that the "waxy" feel wouldn't be on a truly ancient item of this sort!  (Ya'll did good!)

Darkhistory, iffen you truly think you have a "sleeper" then I suggest you contact, say Sotheby's ...... and if they think you have something in the price range you are thinking it is worth, Sotheby's will jump on it in a heartbeat if you consign it to them to be auctioned. Yeah , when I saw it , I had the 98% opinion that this 'thing' looked like one of the 'things' that got produced after all the thefts (including junk from the gift shop) from the Bagdad museum .

I'm a bad man , because I felt like a cat playing with a mouse .
