Are these prints still common in shops?
« on: June 30, 2009, 08:24:31 pm »
This was bought about 40 years ago I think mainly for the frame.  My folks bought another similiar frame with a young lady standing in waiting.  Are these still fairly common?

Wish I could tell you , railman .... I don't hit the 'shops too much anymore ; these days I'm more into 'target shooting' than usin' the shotgun , if you know what I mean .

Are you looking for another to have a set ?

I hadn't seen them sold ever.  Like the frame!  Can't make out what the pic is!

The picture is two hung quail or partridges probably after a hunt.  It's old but how old I don't know.  If the print is worth any money, I should have it put in a non-acid backing.  The bubbling in the glass stops me from changing that.  It's never in direct sunlight.

From the tail feathers they look to me to be Ruffed Grouse.

It was common practice in the old days to “hang birds” for several days before cleaning them up. (A self-tenderizing process.) A lot of old oil paintings featured such subjects/hunting scenes and prints were made of them.
