Antique Chairs?
« on: July 20, 2009, 11:39:52 am »
I have been clearing out a relatives house today, and have come across some old chairs.  I believe they are about 100 years old.  All 6 chairs have been re-upholstered and are all in excellent condition.  They have no markings, dates or initials on them so I am unsure of their true age or value.  Please could anyone give me a rough idea of their age and are they of any value?  There are 4 dining chairs (1st Image) and 2 carvers (2nd Image)

In my opinion they're old.  They're not like most "kitchen" chairs I've seen.  I wonder if they weren't caned at one time.  They seem a little too plain to be a formal dinining room chair.  A set, which is what you've got, is worth some dough.  My guess would be around a $100 each as a set.  Could be higher.

They don't look like kitchen or dining chairs to me either, could be restaurant chairs?

They seem too dainty/flimsey for commercial restaurant chairs to me.
