Any Idea What This Lamp Is?

Can anyone help me find out anything about an interesting lamp I purchased at a consignment store about five years ago? It has a sort of genie lamp with a bronze flame, a glass tube marked with roman numerals I - XII (the glass is green between numbers VII and VIII, through number XII), and the lamp has a bronze eagle on top of the tube and a bronze flame on top.  I have stared at this odd lamp for years, wondering if it's just a collection of "stuff" someone used to put together a lamp, or it has some significance.  Thanks for your help!

Here you go LibraryLady! I have a question, is the green stuff inside the glass liquid? I'm guessing it functions as a barometer reading the barometric pressure? Or is it glass or plastic that slides up and down mechanically?

It's supposed to represent a fluid lamp.

OK I get it, so on a real fluid lamp the numbers would tell you how much oil was left. I've only seen the type that hold the fluid in the body of the lamp. I guess on this lamp that is where the genie goes!

Thank you to everyone who responded -- I had NO idea about the fluid lamp...There actually isn't any liquid in the lamp and nothing slides, but it makes good sense that it's supposed to measure oil.  I was wondering about the eagle, but maybe that is just decorative.  Were these made in the 1960s or 1970s?

It's a strange mix of styles, the American eagle with the middle-eastern fantasy kinda thing, with a few Roman numerals to boot! It makes me wonder what inspired it. I'm thinking LSD. LOL! But seriously it is fun and certainly a conversation starter! I think its one of those things like Alice in Wonderland. There is really no explaining it, you just have to "go with it"!!

Obviously someone was inspired to make it...and some company was inspired to produce it.  Doesn't look handmade/one of a kind - at least from the pics!
