And the missing "bar" is called a spindle.

That was well worth your $2.

A set of 4 or 6 would be worth quite a bit.

My grandparents had a set of this out under the big oak tree....ah the memories!

Most likely, 3 curved cross slats, 2 narrow ones and a wide top one having a "pressed" design it it.
