After Ironlord1963 commenting on what type of wood this was I've been trying to look into it and stumbled across this website and thought it may be of some use to others here.
There are 2 categories being common and exotic.

I am still stumped (no punn intended) on the wood this plate is because of the white colored graining. Any guesses based on your observations?
