Unknown water colour artist
« on: November 05, 2009, 12:15:36 pm »
Hi,
Very new to all this so sorry if i appear a bit ignorant on this subject but hope you can help. My father passed away recently and I've been going through various antiques he accumulated over the years, one of them being a water colour called "Blackberry Gathering" by an artist painted in 1860. I can't make out what the full artists name is on the painting and i can't make out what the name is on the original invoice when it was bought in 1990 due to illegible hand writing. The first word could be "Ernest" but the second name is pure guess work although the first letters of it could be "hanfo".
I've enclosed a photo in case anyone recognises it.

Many thanks in advance.

Paul

It looks to me like it says E.Hanford. How do you know it was painted in 1860?
