Spillers Limited 1966 Pewter Tankard
« on: December 21, 2009, 07:01:24 am »
Hi all,

I recently bought this Tankard (sp?) in an antique shop in St Just, Cornwall. It attracted me because of the Fox shaped handle. I read the little message on the front (which i didn't notice before!) and it reads:

"W G EVANS
50 YEARS WITH
SPILLERS LIMITED
10TH JUNE 1966"

On the bottom it reads

"ENGLISH PEWTER
MADE IN SHEFFIELD
ENGLAND
A.S.W
39"

Can anyone provide me with any infomation about Spillers? I know there's two types of spillers, a pet food company and a flour company, is there anyway of knowing which company this is? Also what does the A.S.W and the 39 stand for about the pewter? Any information about my Tankard would be much appreciated.

Thanks :)
