WWII Half Track Rockwarts Gang (PHOTOS INSIDE)
« on: January 23, 2010, 06:49:58 am »
I was going thru some of my granddads stuff from WWII .. I found a few wooden boxes .. some with wood tanks and another that had a Rockwarts Gang half track .. it is in perfect condition. . you can even wind it up .. it has head lights on it and everything .. it has about 6 to 8 soilders in it all with their guns and everything .. Upon further research I found out my granddad had sent it from Nazi germany while he was there.. He was a tank commander.. Im not sure if anyone will know about it .. I am including pictures of it .. there is still a stamp on one of the seats that tells you what it is .. anyone have any ideas ?

That halftrack is awesome, the kind of vehicle that was used by the Germans in WWll. That's the kind of thing that should be on Antique Roadshow. Definitely collectible. I'm sure some of the others here that know a lot about WWll and militaria will know more.

Here's a link to a site where you'll be able to get some additional info.
I'd post it under misc. militaria. These dudes really know their stuff and specialize in this sort of thing.

Okay its a 1930's to mid war Hausser #731 heavy halftrack, Elastolin figures all from same company that went on after the war til the 1980's,,,looks like an interesting realized auction price from last year,,,take a look,,,I would try and find the fenders, spare tire, and missing soldier, this listed version is of an earlier and better quality, I think this one is wartime, a little cost cutting in production going on.  Auction results cannot be depended on for value, particularly in this economy, but its a good sign

You might check the storage compartments on right and left rear sides for additional parts.  Heres a photo from a reference book

I sent you an email as well, there are toys and also scale models used in war games, I do this as a hobby and as a sideline to my police retirement, there is considerable value in WWII German militaria, some of the smallest items can be worth the most.

Wow....almost speechless....wow!

What an amazing find!  Hope you hold on to this!  It will only continue to rise in value!!!!

Highly recomment that whatever you know of your grandfathers/family's history with this that you document it.  In addition, any information you currently find on this...print it and keep it with the items -  for you/your family.
