Antuque bedspread? Please take a peek
« on: February 08, 2010, 08:15:21 pm »
I think this is a antique bedspread. It is a double size and the edges are scalloped all the way around. In each corner all temples with angles riding horses. The center as you can see has a design does it mean something? Any info would be great.  Thanks

I did not resize these so I will just post the urls to the images.

I also have another item.. I have no idea what it is but it looks like it was to be attached to a jain of some sport and to be put around the neck. The top un screws and you are able to remove the piece.

Welcome to the forum , 918hatch .

My guess is a wall-hanging type of item (tapestry) .

Looks like mosques in the motif of your item .

My first impression is of an item from India .

Can you post a bit of it's known history ?

Need a pic of the top of the "wall hanging" - the part on the back that has been sewn to make a pocket for the rod.  Is it edged the same way as the other 3 sides?

The second item....what is the size of it.  My first reaction is an annointing bottle/perfume bottle with a applicator.

Hi, Thanks for the reply's Yes it is edged the same way as the other three sides.

For my second item the size of it is 2 inches high and 1 and a half inches to the side.

I do think this is a bedspread that someone turned into a wall hanging!

I do also believe that this is a perfume bottle.

I'm seconding the perfume bottle. The stick inside the lid is for dabbing it on.

Can you please take close up pics of horserider and "mosque"?

These could also be Russian or Kazakh....

i have had this tapestry or whatever it is for fourty years. It belonged to my grandparents i remember it from when i was a young girl. we would visit them in Oklahoma. my grandfather was a Freemason i thought perhaps it may have something to do with that. It has not been altered in any way, I just have it looped over the rod and secured with straght pins

I do believe that this is Russian in theme and looks Russian in colors!  Looks like their woven tapestry coverlets.  Was your grandmother/grandfather in the military?  Will do more research on it later!

I think it might have something to do with freemasons?
