markings on bottom of figurines
« on: March 04, 2010, 12:56:15 pm »
I apologize for not having any pictures but my grandmother would like to know if anyone could help her identify her two figurines. One is of a old man with a beard, a hat, blue overalls, and grey shirt. On the bottom is an "x" like marking with a "<" overlapping the left side and a "o" tucked between the right side. There is also the number "1407" under the marking. The other figurine is an old lady in an orange/yellow dress and bonnet with a white apron. It has the same "x" like marking under it but her number is "1409". I have looked everywhere but it all have been dead ends. Any help at all, even if its just web address that I could do my own research would be the most appriciated. Thank you so much in advance!

Hi memiller!  Welcome!

This site gets requests from all over the world.  In addition, figurines can pop up on one continent that is made and imported from another one.  Due to the enormity of possibilities that this affords,  we really need a picture of the figurines and the marks to help you identify your grandmother's figurines.

Sounds like a great possibility Chris.  If anyone could do this one sight unseen it would be you!  Thanks!

I think Chris is right.  Check out this auction on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/Homco-Home-Interiors-Old-Couple-Figurines-1409_W0QQitemZ300403079818QQcategoryZ41157QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp4340.m263QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DDLSL%252BSIC%26its%3DI%252BC%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%252BDDSIC%26otn%3D10%26po%3D%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D8263719633403456182

This is a relist and did not sell or get any bids by Feb. 24 with a start price of $9.99.  There are other #1409 couples for more money and "Buy It Now" but no buyers.  Both figurines should have the same # on the bottom.  Is it possible the man 1407 is really 1409?
