Hi All,

We are new to this forum. This is our first post here.

Can someone give us some information about this child’s chair? Or, it might be a doll chair. When we acquired it it was with a collection of antique dolls, so we’re not sure of its intended purpose.

The chair is 22 1/2 inches tall and the seat is 12 inches square.

We would like to learn its probable age, what its value might be and any other information. We were able to find out a little about the maker, but not much. Christie’s has auctioned some chairs from them, but nothing like this one.

Thank you,
Dawna & Dan

Gorgeous chair!

Here's another child's/dolls chair by Shoolbred:

Just for grins, if in fact this is an authentic Jas Shoolbred & Co piece....here's what a child's bench sold for

His furniture is highly collectible!  His furniture was copied and passed off as originals.  You would need a true hands on inspection to verify it is an original

I'm with posters who like your chair , Dan .

I'm fairly sure it's AKA a 'corner chair' .

As KC mentioned , many repos of Shoolbred ... I'd look for a sig , somewhere on you chair .

Welcome to the forum , BTW .

Thanks for the responses folks!

Some of those links were very interesting.

We looked it over again, for a sig, and we did find a number stamped into the bottom of the seat frame, T9557. Does that give us any information?

Thanks again,
Dawna & Dan

I think this may be the same chair as yours......they don't list a maker, but it certainly looks near identical. (At least to me  ;) )

Thank you Sapphire!

I wonder if it would do any good to contact them.

Well, considering where they are you aren't liable to be 'competition'.  ;)

I'd say go for it......never know, you might be able to give them some info too since
your chair does have a label and they don't appear to have noted a maker.

I emailed the seller listing the (similar) chair with the information about ours. We had hoped that they would exchange information.

The response was far less than we had hoped for. It was a solicitation a site to give valuations for 3.99GBP.

Oh well, it was worth a try,
Dan
