advice on a couple of items...Please

I found these two items with some of my grandfathers stuff. I know, i know. I am having to clean their old house out years after they passed away.

Any idea on information or value of these items.
Below is some sort of fondu set i suppose. Marked "Made in Switzerland" 1968.


Next is a backgammon board made by Abercrombie and fitch.

The top items are for a fondue set.  Alcohol burner, tray and fondue forks.  Missing the pot!
Extremely popular in the 50's to 60's.  Still liked today.

I am sure the backgammon board isn't old if it is from ambercombie and fitch (I know i spelled that all wrong) This company is fairly new i think, as my daughter tries to buy all her clothes there but I got her down to 1 pair of jeans as they are very expensive.  I may be wrong though. I am just guessing here.

Packman your board by Abercrombie and fitch does look to have age to it and as Abercrombie and fitch was originaly founed in 1892 in Manhattan by David T. Abercrombie, A&F had been an elite outfitter of sporting and excursion goods. It struggled financially from the late 1960s until it was purchased by The Limited in 1988 and repositioned, under the management of Mike Jeffries, as the aspirational "Casual Luxury" lifestyle brand in present form as cat mentioned. In 1920, Abercrombie & Fitch became the first-ever American brand to introduce the game of mahjong. It became a success in New York, and the owner of the company sent emissaries to Chinese villages to buy every set of mahjong they could find. Abercrombie & Fitch sold a total of 12,000 sets. slightly more than Jaques of London! Have found no referance to backgammon by A&F but maybe someone else will chime in.

Packman, your board would likely have been sold by Abercrombie & Fitch. Can you find any other indication of a maker?  Did find one
very similar to yours on ebay........

I'm curious what the chips are made of? Maybe Bakelite or celluloid?

I am guessing they are bakelite. They look like marble but aren't.

The only markings on the set are on the leather cups. Each one says Made in England, Abercrombie and fitch, USA.
