This FORUM is great: within minutes of posting my question I received the answer: it turned out to be a Bombilla, South American  straw for mate (leavy tea).

Anyhow, I have another one: this figurine has been a drawer for a long time and upon closer examination I thought it was rather nice and even resembled the quality of MEISSEN. The marks are 2 crossed heyforks indicating that they are VOLKSTEDT. While surfing the internet I found that it must be pretty old and I would assume worth something.
There is one thing wrong with the figurine and that is that one arm of the cherubs is partly missing. The rest seems to be ok.

So my question to this forum is: How old is it? Is is by Volkstedt? and is it worth anything (on Ebay)?

There are a few numbers at the bottum of the figurine: 49 and 1278.

Thanks for your input!

On a quick search I've found several figurines along similar lines with that mark that are attributed to Richard Eckert, Volkstedt Porcelain Factory. Very new to this stuff myself, so wait for others to have time to chime in.  ;)

Here are some examples of his work (of course no prices given  :P) dated I'm assuming based on the mark/numbers on the pieces. Dates seem to run 1890's through to 1918
