Chippendale?

I am interested in finding our more about this piece.  I am new to this and was not particularly sure if I dated the item correctly.  I figured it to be late 19th century due to the manufacture techniques used for the mechanical bits.  I have seen other tables of similar fashion and folks seem to think it is a Chippendale style but other research has contradicted that theory.  I am interested in who made the piece and possibly a rough estimate on value.

I found another similar to yours Chippendale style by Potthast Bros., second on the page. If you click on the 'dull' pics you will see clearer ones. The edge is more in line with your design.

Have you found any sign of markings anywhere on the underside (table top/ legs, etc) ?

No markings at all unfortunately.  It is starting to look like the table is of the chippendale style but I also saw some similar Philadelphia style tables as well.

Just noticed this quote while looking up the Philadelphia style. Had seen this page before but just scanned briefly
over the description.

"In colonial America only a few craftsmen were able to create the American Rococo (ornate) style that was popular during the Chippendale period"

Ran across this site, which I'll definitely bookmark for future reference.......the easier the read the better for
me   Good simple descriptions with some other very useful links at the bottom.  

Heck, I may eventually learn to distinguish styles/periods after all!!

it could be said the table is done in the chippendale style. furniture designers have a free hand when designing there furniture.

Ok thanks for clearing that up.  I also saw something regarding george III table that looks similar.  Would this be a style as well? 

I am now looking for reference material to try and get a better date based on the latching mechanism.
