Can somebody help me with this book ?
« on: June 28, 2010, 06:25:47 pm »
My name is Hunter Willis,I am 15 years old Keith Willis is my dad.
I bought this book on ebay and was wondering if somebody could tell me something about it.The title is ''A HISTORY OF THE WORLD.....WITH ALL ITS GREAT SENSATIONS''this is Vol.2 I think it would be nice to have Vol.1.It seems like a very interesting book.I would like to know if somebody would know when it was written.somebody wrote on the inside cover March 15 1897.It is not in very good shape. I know it is not worth much but I really like old books,or anything else that is old. Thanks for any help.

Hi Hunter,

You can buy a copy of Volume I on Abe Books. Here is a link to several copies. Just read through the descriptions to find the one you need. You can also look at these descriptions to try to figure out when your book was published, I'm guessing there is no publication date inside on the first couple of pages? If not, looking at the dates listed on the books here should give you the answer. It looks like there are two publication dates, 1887 and 1892. I think you'll need to read through these descriptions to try to figure out which date matches your book:

If the condition of your volume II isn't that great, you might just want to buy the cheapest volume I that abebooks has. The binding may or may not match with the one you have, it may even be shorter or taller, but you'll still have the complete work. Just a thought.

I wish I had had the internet when I was a fifteen year old book collector. It sure would have made things easier! Flea markets and antique stores were hit and miss for cool old books that weren't overpriced.

I like to read so much that I can spend even days reading and not even realizing how the time goes on. So I decided to see which book are you talking about, and I can say I'm glad I did so because I found it very interesting. Thanks, talesofthesevenseas for the tip, I think I'm gonna check if I can find it!
