Old High Chair -- can I strip it?
« on: July 18, 2010, 06:29:05 pm »
Hi everyone!

This old high chair was my father-in-law's when he was a baby.  But as you can see, it's been painted over numerous times, very sloppily.  Can I strip it and refinish it?  Or is it worth more as it?  -- assuming it's worth anything!  BTW, FIL was 84 when he died a couple of months ago, so it was at least that old.

Don't believe you will need to strip it to sell it.

You might want to strip it to get back to natural wood and see if there are any markings under the paint.

Nice little chair .

If you do decide to strip & refinish it , you'll be faced with doing something with the 4 large holes (where the missing arms & tray were once fitted into) .

Good point about the holes.

My husband has great stories about this chair.  His grandmother used it as a chair in the kitchen, while she prepared homemade biscuits every morning (don't ask me about the dough bowl -- that family treasure is MIA, but very coveted!).

Thanks, everyone!
