Anybody seen a rocking chair like this before
« on: August 04, 2010, 03:02:20 pm »
Picked this up at a junk store and I am curious as to when it might have been made. I'm thinking 1930's to 1940's...........right or wrong???

Looks like you're in the general range with the age of your chair , colonel64 .

I'm curious to know if there are dowel-plugs concealing or covering screwheads , for the arms , top back piece , etc. ?

Is it as 'solid' as it appears to be ?

Nice rocker, age is correct, all solid wood, Oak. The rockers and the front of the arms will have dowells holding them in place and the back end of the arms and the top will surely be held in place with screws. The back support panel looks to be mortised into the uprights.
