Antique Pendant

I received this pendant from my neighbor to give to my mother, we are just wondering if it is silver and what the stones are?, it is heavy and there are no markings on it at all, I did the magnet test and it didn't stick to the magnet so...idk...

Those pictures are reeeeally tiny... hard to tell much of anything from them. Can you get any bigger ones, with a higher resolution?

Sterling Silver is generally marked - it could be really tiny, but there should be either Sterling or some numbers, if foreign -also maybe hallmarks.

You could also just take it to a jeweler and ask them to test it for you.

Yeah I've looked real close and don't see any markings, I'll probably have to take it to a jeweler...thanx...

If there's any kind of bale (the loop that the chain goes through) on the pendant, be sure to try and look on the inside as well - sometimes they like to hide the stamp. Same goes with all surfaces of the clasp, as well, including the part the clasp hooks into.

All good advice on markings.  You need magnification (a loupe) to inspect for markings...the naked eye just does not work if the mark is small and poorly stamped. Sterling does have a different look to it than white metal but that comes from experience.  A magnet will only stick to iron/steel.

Hybrid from what I can tell from the photos (as said they are small) I believe you have a Scottish agate pendant, if in silver & not a reproduction could hold a value of $200.00 or higher.

Hybrid I could not even venture a guess at dating your piece. This needs a hands on inspection by someone who deals in antique jewelry, the popularity of Victorian stone , pebble  or agate  jewelry  was encouraged by Queen Victoria and it began as a souvenir of her trips to Scotland. From the mid-1800s Queen Victoria frequented Scotland and her Scottish castle, Balmoral. By the later 1800s it was being made in England and Germany as well. It was introduced in Paris in 1855. Scottish jewelery was popular in England until around 1861.
