Ballet theatre figurine
« on: September 01, 2010, 09:01:38 pm »
Hi Guys,

I am looking for something I saw on Antiques Roadshow - cant remember what they are called so it makes it really hard to know what to ask for :)

It was a porcelian ballet stage with little dancers etc - Don Quixote. I would love to find out if they are available for other ballets.

Are you referring to the Volkstedt porcelain ballerinas?
Example below?

Thanks for the link, but no that's not it.

It was a whole scene, more like a diorama? It had a stage, dancers, curtains and I think there may have been some little audience seats in the front.

I just don't know what they are called and that makes it really hard to search for.

Thanks so much for your help guys.

I still have not found anything but I will post back when I do.

Sounds like I will have to hold out till I've bought myself one first though :)

Thanks again.

Ha ha me too. I am getting a little bit obsessed - I just love the ballet and the "???" was so beautiful.

I wish now that I paid more attention when Antiques Roadshow was on but I assumed there would be some sort of commentary on the website and I was at a friends house so didn't really want to be unsociable :) I regret that now, of course!

But yes, bound and determined I am too, so off I go to google random phrases such as antique diorama!

Okay, lets get down to basics....

Do you know when you saw the show (month, week, day, time, station).  Was it Antique Roadshow or was it some other show like Antique Treasure Hunters Road Show...etc.

I am leaning toward the idea that it was a music box or jewelry box with the porcelain figures/stage on top.
