Need Info Help Please
« on: October 09, 2010, 10:48:29 am »
I have antiques I am trying to value and eventually sell that include:

A set of Russel Wright American Modern, full service for 8 with extra peices:  72 pieces and 10 serving pieces. (yellow, pink, brown, white and green)

Fosteria depression glass: Willowmere pattern:  8 goblets, 7 wine glasses, 8 cups, 8 saucers, 8 small plates, sugar bowl, small round handled bowl and small oval bowl

Rogers Bros. 1847 Her Majesty pattern silverplate flatware:  8 Dinner forks, 8 dinner knives, 10 teaspoons, 9 tablespoons, 2 serving spoons, two sugar spoons, 2 butter knives and 2 knives that are smaller than the dinner knives.

Please can anyone help me?

Thanks,

Mimi

All of these items can be found on Ebay.  If you look under the completed listings column, you will see what  price they have sold for.

Mimi you can also find most of your pieces at www.replacements.co m to give you an idea of value, prices are high at replacements and you will probably not get those prices but it will give you a starting point. for your Fosteria look under crystal.  good luck

Would love to see pics too, but From what you have written, I can make a few comments.  First is your Fostoria Set, This pattern would not really be considered as true Depression Glass, This pattern did get it start in the late 30's I believe, but was a very popular pattern that was made into the 1970's Lot of this pattern is out there.  True Depression glass was giveway patterns between the 20's and 40's.  Like inside Soap boxes, Theaters, 5 and 10 stores and etc.  This pattern would be considered Elegant Glass.  The value as a set would be much lower then by the individual pieces.  If you wish to sell as a set, first find the missing Wine glass that would basically make a full 8 piece set and you might be looking at $200.00.
The value of the russel Wright set would mostly depend on the color, these have a really good collector base, being a style much like Homer Lauglin Fiestaware.  This was a popular style of the 50's and into the 60's and has been seeing a revival.  Some of the items can carry very good value.  From the sounds of it you have lots of pieces different colors.  As mentioned you may want to go to replacements and get the value on these as mentioned by wendy.
As for the silverware, this pattern was made in 1928, but not really considered fancy or Extra Fancy.  so value is really not too good here as a whole.  So many set of silverplate flatware is out there floating around which as brought the value down, most pieces of silverplate can be gotten for under $1.00 each, I pay no more the .25  each when I find them, as a set you can sometimes get around $100.00 for a good set with a box.
Just thought I would give a little comment on your items, and a few dozen IMO too.
