Pink depression glass ice bucket
« on: October 18, 2010, 03:21:59 pm »
Ironlord this ones for you   beautiful pink dep glass:D found this little gem while cleaning in the basement. I have not done any research on it but can tell you it is pre 1940s  The handle is beautifulally etched and the gold decoration around the top is very detailed. I have not found any like it with a quick search on ebay, most handles are plain & no gold decorations.

Gonna sneak in here with what I found.  If you discount the clear rim on yours it's bloody close.........

2/3 of the way down, right side (better views by clicking on the pics to enlarge)

I went back to get it and it turns out that their HTML is the vase description beneath the ice bucket photo. You're right, there seems to be no price listed.

Cool Ice Bucket.  My first impression was a Fostoria, or maybe Cambridge, A quick scan at replacements didn't make a match.  The Engraving or cut art work sure would be something they would do, but the Rim really makes me think Cambridge.   Don't have many samples of Ice buckets in my book, been looking for mine for months now (off and on that is).  Got me wanting to look around a bit on available and value, I snoop for a bit before I get back to my Ebay addiction  ;D.  I posted a few shots of my Ice bucket too.  ;)

Really nice one Ironlord Very unusual pattern, I have had no luck with my pattern or maker tonight & eyes are ready to fall out on my key board!!!  I think I found the match for the gold rim pattern from Paden City Glass but like I said my eyes are buggy!!!! Will keep an eye out for your pattern as I begin my search tomorrow.  Good luck with EBay ;D

While searching around for some clues I came across this interesting site. The first link brings you to their selection of catagories, the second takes you to the Glass Decorating and Metalwork Gallery itself. The last link is just one of the companies (Lotus) that is included in the Decorating and Metalwork section.....

This is the link to their forum (membership required, no fee)

Got my reply & it is made by Liberty Cut Glass Works, Egg Harbor, NJ  Before 1932 as the plant burned down in 1932 & was not able to recover. For this reason Liberty decorations are not very well documented. But They are the only ice buckets from this era which have this type of foot (star like design on bottom) I also have searched and found the pattern in one of my antique books & the etched gold overlay on one other piece by them on line. Mystery solved  Thanks Sapphire!!!!
Kinda rare as not much was found for sale.

The wife kept telling me “That doesn’t look like a Fostoria handle”.

She looked all through her Fostoria books, including “Fostoria – The Popular Years” and could not find any icebuckets like that one.
