Hi Scott your machine was made by the advance machine co. chicago USA not the American machine co. as you stated in your post. I believe they are model D. Try searching advance machine co. chicago USA   and you will find lots of info on your machines or try contacting  www.n2coinop.com   good luck

Here's one that's a bit younger than yours and in good condition:

You probably want to email the guy from Wendy's link....

I'd say right around $75 $100 in it's condition. Just go to ebay and search "antique gumball" or "advance gumball." Remember that condition is very important! Also, look at the auction prices. The one below has zero bids at that price. "BUY IT NOW" prices are not accurate, just because they ask that much, doesn't mean it will actually sell for that much. :)

The plating on the front appears to be in rough shape and there appears to be an issue of rusting on the bottom?!

I would say tops $45 in my neck of the woods in the shape that it is in.

By the way, the patent is # 753,961 for the turning mechanism with the date of March 8, 1904

KC, i would have to agree, of course im a dealer and i also restore these types of things so i would look at how much would go into the item to get it looking original. This particular item in my opinion would be better left alone because the time and materials would put it well over what's it actually worth...

I also think that prices are different in different regions...
