help identify this lantern

this is an old lantern that my grandfather had...any info would be appreciated...

That is a nifty one. Looks like it might be an outdoors lamp that is protected from the wind & rain, ..... for say a front entrance, a business or even a train station.

Is there a name or marking on it anywhere?

Scott, that is an older type lamp because it has the brass collar that is affixed to the glass .... and the burner then screws into the top of the collar.

Anyway, looking at your cropped picture below, I can't make out the details of the collar & burner so maybe a better "close up" picture of them might help to find a maker. I have a book titled "Oil Lamps - the kerosene era in North America".

Anyway, anyway, there is oftentimes a patent date somewhere on that collar. And usually always a name on the face of that wick screw. Or, you might unscrew the burner from the collar and then check those areas out.
