Help! looking for info
« on: December 27, 2010, 09:40:58 pm »
I have a old Chatillon spring scale/hand scale that goes up to 64 oz. and 2000 GRS. I can't find anything on this scale. I have found some similar ones but not this exact one. I'm trying to find out the age of this particular scale. I have not found one with the wording like mine has. I can find no other marks on this other than the words Chatillon New York U.S.A. engraved on the front. Can anyone help me out please? Here are some pictures of the front and back.  I appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you!!!

According to their Web site, the Chatillon company has been in business since 1835 and they are still producing items today! To date this one, you may need to contact them directly.

This one looks similar to yours. Maybe if you contact them they might have some info on the age?

I think with the U.S.A. marking, this can be dated to the 30s?  I have some similar ones.  Good for wall decoration if the brass is polished.  Value wise they run in the $10-20 range on a good day.  Quite common.  Chatillion currently makes some very nice trout scales that will weigh in ounces but I never bothered with those as my fish are always much larger.  ;D
