I am interested in bidding on an item but the listing says NO PAYPAL. I thought paypal was required to sell on ebay? Under payment options, it just says "Discover." I'm confused...
I'd never give my credit card information to a seller on ebay. Thoughts?

A lot of people are dropping Paypal -- the fees are high, and Paypal is a big high-handed when there's a dispute about the money.  The seller has a lot of positive feedback, and the few negatives seem to be buyer whining rather than actual bad-faith issues.

Heres a link to to eBay's accepted payment methods and 1 of them is 'Credit card or debit card processed through the seller's Internet merchant account'.

I would have to want the item pretty bad to use any other method (except local pick up) than PayPal. A seller not offering P.P. would really be limiting their potential buyers but I think I can understand why they are trying to get away from them.

Whoops! Dean posted the same.

I use PayPal because it is fast and easy and most accept and want PP.  I think of fees as a cost of doing business...buying or selling.

According to what ebay told me last year,of course they may have changed policy,,,again, You can email the seller and ask if they will accept a money order and if they agree its fine with them. You just can`t put it in your item listing. But I have noticed a few that are putting alternate payment methods in the listing so maybe they have relaxed the rules a bit. I would email and ask if they would accept a USPS money order rather than CC.

I have had buyers email the same question on money orders.  I also said I would take a check.  To complete the sale on ebay, the seller has to manually input the item was paid for.  I think it is treated the same as "Payment upon pickup" where one could accept cash if desired.

Checks are just too much of a hassle for me. But I have used and would accept USPS money orders.

Just to confirm what mart has mentioned, a buyer can contact a seller on eBay and ask them if they will take checks, money orders but the seller cannot advertise that form of payment.  The buyer must contact the seller and ask.  The seller can say yes or no but they are not under any obligation to accept any form other that what is listed on ebay's site.  Ebay's position is to not allow it in the posting but they will not disallow those forms of payment if the buyer requests it.  Ebay will not stand in the way of not completing a sale if the buyer requests to pay by check or money order.  It is buried in ebay's payment rules but you really have to search to find it.
