Brass table with built-in telephone
« on: February 22, 2011, 05:06:23 pm »
I came across this interesting item recently and was hoping to see if any members have any insight about it.

The telephone table appears to be made from stamped brass sheet and has a 10" diameter base and a 16" diameter top. It is 16" from the floor to the table top. It has an integrated rotary dial phone with an old Ma Bell style 4 pin connector. The receiver has a plastic (bakelite?) mouthpiece and earpiece. There are no identifying markings anywhere on the item.

Any ideas as to value or vintage?
Thanks, Jonny

Wow, that one is really cool! It's not a reproduction like most of the ones I see made in the 60's-80's. Hopefully we can find some similar to yours for a value/age range.

Neat phone. I especially like the painted porcelain? pic in the center.  I would contact phoneco as they deal in antique phones. http://www.phonecoinc.com/  They are only 10 miles from me and their warehouse has thousands and thousands of parts and phones. If you want to use it, they could also put this in working order for you.

Found a couple on ebay.....think the price on the first is a wee bit steep $550, second one at $299

Also another that had been listed on Craigslist SF, but no longer listed.......grabbe d the pic though and it's showing a price of $225

I tend to agree with hosman, yours definitely looks older.

We have actually had a few of these on here over the past 2 years.

They are unique pieces that people do like to have...but not a big sellers market out there!

Nice piece!
