1953 Coronation Crystal Vase - Any info would be welcome
« on: April 04, 2011, 03:02:21 am »
I have this vase  that I am trying to find out the value of. It is about 15,5 cm tall and has E 11 R , 2nd June 1953 etched into it.

I have searched on the net and have not found one exactly the same. I only found one without the etching on it and that was being sold for R895,00.

I would appreciate any info that a crystal expert would have.

It is in perfect condition.

They etched and made all kinds of items commemorating the crowning of Queen Elizabeth II.  A way of the country and the world to celebrate this.

The manufacturer/maker will definitely be the influence on the value of this item.  Still looking....

I agree with KC on the quality of the glass (known maker) driving the price. There are tons of coronation items available of all qualities.

From pics it looks like it is Royal Brierley crystal, GB (Stourbridge glass maker) factory closed a few years back,
Stevens & williams closed at this date, Webb Corbett possibly, Thomas Webb no  , Stuart crystal doubtful,

Thanks so much for your info! It is definitely Brierley Crystal - Rose pattern. There are no markings but it is definitely that pattern. My friend has whole sets of it, including glasses, decanters (which he wants to keep). I really struggled to find the maker and am now so grateful!
