BAYONET
« on: April 10, 2011, 04:42:19 pm »
I BOUGHT A BAYONET AT AN AUCTION AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY LUCK IN IDENTIFYING THE YEAR OR WHAT COUNTRY IT IS FROM. MOST OF THE BAYONETS IVE LOOKED UP HAVE SOME MARKINGS OF THE COUNTRY ON THE BLADE. THIS DOES NOT. IT ONLY HAS A NUMBER 17519. THE HANDLE SEEMS TO BE RESIN. THE KNIFE AND SHEETH MEASURES 14 AND A HALF INCHES. THE BLADE IS 9 AND 3 QUARTERS INCHES. THE ROUND PART WHERE IT ATTACHES TO THE BARREL IS 1 INCH. ANY INFO WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED AS TO ITS VALUE OR YEAR AND COUNTRY IT WAS MADE.

THERE IS A SMALL MARK ON THE SHEATH, JUST UNDER THE SCREW. AND I CANT QUITE MAKE IT OUT. BUT IT LOOKS LIKE A Z, OR MAYBE 2 SWORDS CROSSED.

Oombaba, please take your caps lock off. Internet etiquette defines using all caps as the same as shouting. Thank you.

Nice!  Find bayonets intriguing for some strange reason....ever since my uncle gave us one he brought back from WWII.
I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!
