No, I did not hide Easter Eggs. And no, I am not pointing at the lack of people and no, it's not a flea market or such.

The many cardboard boxes (the ones items are in when they are shipped in containers) should be a dead giveaway ... the pictures indeed show the premises (wholesale outlet) of one of the largest importers of Asian repro junk in the Netherlands. His customers (been in business for over 25 years now) are those dudes that then try to pass off items as 'antique' on eBay or every second dubious brick&mortar antique store. He even has an own 'brand' and uses a certain repro mark featured on my site. Far away, you may think. Well, many of his customers are in the US.

Go figure.

Very interesting Chris .. Not surprising, other than they allowed photos to be taken inside!

This supports the old saying .. 'If it's too good to be true, then it probably isn't!'

Omg Chris!!!!!!  Crazy      The only problem Mariok54 is it is not to good to be true as they will sell this stuff at high prices as "real antiques" to buyers who do not know its all junk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  so so sad

I agree that it makes things a little more difficult for buyer to get the real deal, but reproductions have been going on for a very long time. I did not look at all the pics, but I looked at most of them.

You did mention that he had his own brand and mark, if these are on the items I do not think HE is the one that is the problem, I do not think he is trying to rip people off, it is his customers that mislead when they try to sell on ebay w/o stating that it is a reproduction.

This is why people should be very careful when buying on ebay, and ask to see a lot of pictures, and then if there is any doubt after that, do not buy.

I agree wholeheartedly with you Bob. He obviously isn't trying to pass them off as genuine antiques, although he could be a little guilty of maybe conspiracy .. who knows? But it is those people who knowingly try to pass them off as antiques that get up my nose!

I see some of this repro crap all the time at flea markets and antique shops. It seems some buyers do not care and are just buying items that appear antique for the designer look in their house. The ships are all over the place and so are the wagons/buggies/carriages. What that stuff will look like after it has been around for 50 years and gets some wear on it and then is being sold will be the BIG problem.

Why is Chris a Junior member when his information is so Hero member or beyond? I am not talking about just this post but all his posts. I know the status is based on the number of posts but that does not seem correct in Chris' case.

First thing I thought was REPRO REPRO REPRO.

If that is what people want...than that is what they are going to buy.  HOWEVER, I DETEST those that sell things as original/antiques and get $$$.

I know one of the biggest antique dealers in the area used to own a whole mall.  Two thirds was true antiques....and the other was items like this.  They did this a few years before they retired.  Gave in to high demand on cheaper items and just couldn't travel anymore like they used to...so they let the "mountain" come to them.

Wow, amazing amount of repro stuff. It is amazing what people will reproduce and can sell, either as genuine or as a repro. The other day I was thinking I should get some more old San Francisco cobblestone to do some little garden walkways after doing my front walkway. When I went hunting for it, genuine SF cobblestone seems to be much more difficult to find ,anymore and there is actually a company selling repro SF cobblestone made out of a poured paver material! And re Chris .. you are right... it should be a matter of quality and not quantity
