Antique Lamp Question

What does "9N" mean on an old lamp? I found this brass table lamp with a green glass ball at the top of the base. The only marking I can find is "9N" on the weight on the inside of the base. Thanks!

It could just be a model or parts number. A few pictures of the lamp and it's cord will help us with dating/history/value if you can post some.

the label by the switch says "Leviton 250W 250V." the cord that runs through the lamp is wrapped in yellow thread. the outer cord is a simple 2 prong cord. thanks for any info you can give!

   Wow nice Glass, It appears to be a Fenton Hobnail, Amthyst Glass.   When you hold the Glass up to bright light, is it dark Purple?   Don't know much about Lamp, but that sure looks like fenton glass.

    I poke around at some Fenton Hobnail Lamp, Have not found on just like that yet.  But search around Hobnail Lamps and you may find it or maybe who did.  Quite often Lamp Companies buy There glass from another company.  Many times it is the Glass and not the lamp people are searching for.  And just the overall appearance is Unique and has a nice Glass piece.   Anyway here is just one link that shows some of the many Fenton Hobnail Lamps.

That type of electric cord pretty much signifies that it is a really old lamp, as far as electrified lamps go, that is.

Before using it you should "check" the connection between the old and new cord ...... because sometimes they were haphazardly done or have deteriorated over the years.

If this is going to be used, I would rewire it to be safe. One could be in for a shocking experience if not rewired. I do not trust old cords or some other handyman's rewiring work.

yeah, i'm going to rewire it. any idea what the glass is worth?

     The Glass if we can establish it is Fenton would just add value to the Lamp.  I have not had any luck finding any Fenton Hobnail Glass that is exactly like this.  All in All if it is fenton the Lamp might bring you about $60.00 maybe $75.00.
