Nasco trivet from Spain
« on: May 19, 2011, 11:50:25 pm »
I have a round tile or ceramic trivet which has cork on the bottom and sits in a gold tone frame.  On the bottom is stamped NASCO MADE IN SPAIN.  Can anyone tell me anything about it?  My mother says it is from 1890's but it looks newer to me.

This looks very much like yours ... I'll try to find more details

http://www.goantiques.com/scripts/images,id,1919112.html

If you click on the Return to Detail page, then they give a bit more info ... say it's 40s, 50s 60s and on sale for $36.99

LHanson, sorry....mom just remembered wrong and that's okay.

It is from middlin' 90's like mariok54 stated!

Depending on demand...might get $8 - $15.

Thanks! You are both a great help.  I suspected something like that. Now to break it to Mom...  It is a family piece that I am trying to track the history on.  Yes, obviously Mom was remembering wrong.  So I have to try to find a way to ask her to try to remember some more about it without making her feel bad.  :)
Do you think there any way to find out more about the company, like what stores sold their products?  Are they the same company that makes the products from Japan? I haven't been able to find out anything about them on the internet.

NASCO was a brand/product that was produced in Japan and imported in the US.  All sorts of pottery pieces.

So did they have a factory in  Spain? I imagine in the 50 - 60's it would have been a good place with fairly cheap labour.
