Rocking Chair
« on: June 01, 2011, 10:36:00 am »
I have been trying to find out information on this chair. I know it was made by Stomps-Burkhardt between 1890-1928, the the tag on the bottom of the chair is ripped so i dont know the model number.  if anyone knows the model number, year it was made or the value of this chair it would be helpful

Thanks

Welcome to the forum dcoyler!

Hard to get any detail from your pics due to size, but I came across this thread on another site. It's dedicated to the Stomps-Burkhardt chairs and if you sign up and contact Wilhemina (see last post on page 2) you'll likely have some good luck with answers....though it's possible someone on here may actually be familiar with the maker and models they produced.  ;)

Duh  :P forgot to include the link......

I should have added, if you scan through the posts from others describing their chairs you may get a bit of info there as well.

ahhhh, here's her contact info from a post dated Jan, 2011

"If you have questions about chairs and rockers that
may be from the G. Stomps & Co. or the Stomps-Burkhardt
Co., (from 1859-1928) email me the questions and pictures at gh@germaine.net and I will try to get back to you.

There was another company that made furniture:
tables for the parlor and library: The Burkhardt
Furniture Company (from 1893 - 1919). Once again
email me your questions and pictures. I'll try to help.

I'm writing a book about both these companies and their
families and would love to see what you have.

You can also mail me photos, etc: Horvath Publications
137 N. Main Street, Suite 206, Dayton OH 45402.

Thanks."

Found their catalogue from February 1894.  Bit of a pain enlarging each page, but not too difficult to figure it out (If I did, you certainly can).  Maybe you'll come across yours there and get a model number if it was manufactured around that time.

This one might be a little easier to work with.  But a pain to load.

Use the 'page' symbols next to the - ________+ sign, just above the large picture, to adjust size for viewing (have to do this for each page you choose....another pain :P)

Their 1894 Descriptive Price List (no pictures of chairs, just model numbers). It works the same way as the other link  :P
