Antiques? batch of objects...
« on: June 01, 2011, 08:35:05 pm »
Here i have a batch of items that could be worth something...  It would be great if you guys could tell me about them and how much they could be worth...

cosco stepstool: i have pictures here of my old, rusty stepstool and a picture of what i think it looks like new, i'm not so sure about if it's the same model stool.

Another thing i found is the Wear-Ever Cookie Gun, i found one like it on ebay, unsed, buti want to know how much i could be able to get for mine...

Finally, the last thing i found is this.

I don't expect anything besides the stool to be worth very much, if anything at all. It would be nice to find out i could get some money for something but its not very important, it would be cool to just learn about these items.

Ebay is a great gauge for pricing as well as demand. Look at the overall bids and prices on things similar and you will have an idea. All of your items can be found on ebay, they are all vintage, and if in perfect condition would still not be worth more than what you would pay for them new. The Grinder may be the only thing that will get you a few bucks but like I said look at a new grinders price then it takes someone with a thing for old tools to buy it.

Here are the Original Bisell Sweepers much older than the one you have. http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=grand+rapids+bissell+&_cqr=true&_nkwusc=grand+rapids+bisell&_rdc=1

This took me less than 5 minutes :)

I see objects such as yours, GuitarDTC, at many rummage/yard/garage sales. They are all common household items with minimal collector appeal. The step stool in its current condition is worth about $1. The sweeper about the same. The cookie gun somewhere between $3-10 if someone is looking for one to use. The hand crank grinder is a $10 item but many can be had for much less ($3-4).

If one looks at eBay for prices, one must look at sales of completed similar items over a period in time. Buy It Now prices mean nothing because many are priced too high and they just sit there for 30 days and get renewed for another 30 days, etc. Ebay prices are also a snapshot in time at what something sold for and not what something will sell for in the future. The market could get saturated or demand may increase/decrease.  Prices go up and they go down.

I do not think the price/time of restoration would pay. You can buy a new, retro one for $45-$85. http://home-and-garden.become.com/kitchen-step-stool-chair

I would think a nice old one would be in the $25-$40 range and restoring yours would cost that much in time, paint, and elbow grease.

The cookie gun (if in immaculate and complete condition sells for $15 - $35 dependent on customer demand.)
