Roseville or not?
« on: June 10, 2011, 02:46:38 pm »
I prepared the post once but couldn't find way (tho I've done it before) to post a picture and in trying ways, lost the post.  So will describe it and of I can print a picture so much the better.

This is a vase, or vase type, pottery, nine inches high and seven inches outside diameter.  I thought it may be an umbrella stand but seems a little small for that.  It came from my late stepdad's old house in southern Illinois which his grandfather, a Civil War vet built in the 1870's.  It is inscribed on the bottom,  R. R. P. Co. Roseville, Ohio.  Any ideas on the manufacturer?  Thanks for any input.      Jon

Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Company. Not the same as "Roseville". Very common although some items are scarce. Is still in business. I have a few pieces but not worth much.

Yes Wayward, thanks for the answer.  This one appears to have a three digit number (maybe 314) below the caption.  Any way to date this by that number?         Jon

I think that is just a style or model number. There is a book out on RRPC but I do not have it.
