A few of my Grandmas items..
« on: June 15, 2011, 06:17:31 pm »
Hey guys,

I came across a few lamps and an old pair of skates while cleaning my Grandma's basement out for a garage sale (she's 85). Im really unsure if these items are worth anything but I was curious to find out. The skates are from when she was 11 so theyre definately aged. The lamps were wedding gifts so they are 50+ years old for sure. I dont know if you can tell me from the pictures alone but I was just curious to see if they are worth anything or worthless. Thanks!! :)

Have no idea about the skates, we don`t use them much in Texas !!  The lamps and the hanging fixture all look from the 60`s !!  Just good garage sale items !!

That Red Lamp is wonderful Looking for sure, could be a bit older then the 60's maybe but if not I'm sure the unique look of that one would get you a fair penny for sure,  I think $50.00 to $75.00 on sheer looks alone, Look at the Fixture themselves and the cords, If they have not been replaced, they may give you clue to the age.   As for the Skates well not many people collect Skates, They may get them to use, but overall the value would be min. $10.00

The skates are speed skates or racing skates.  I do not know how much they are used anymore but when I was ice skating in the 60s, guys that went FAST used those and anybody that raced used them. I had figure skates. Olympic skaters use a much higher grade of the same type of skate. I would think they would be worth more than $10 but the market is narrow so maybe not.

Sorry, can't see lamps enough to see if originals/old/repros.  The hanging lamp is in the style of 1960's.

Agree with Wayward, those are speed skates, meant for racing or hockey, rather than figure skating.

Tales, one cannot use those for hockey. The tips would be used to impale too many players on the other team.
