That is just about the dumbest illustration of a golfer I have ever seen! Where is his crotch?

I also think it is fake but I could be wrong. Definitely not worth the change the seller is asking for a crotchless golfer. JMO.

OK, why do I think this is fake...wrong style of golfing attire for the time period claimed; not a metal tray - come on, paper mache, really?, for a tray made to hold wet drinks?; no wear where there should be wear; looks like all the rest of the new, fake, repro junk out there - especially the lettering; the crotchless golfer - what a joke; this tray is unsold with 1 hr left, if this was real and rare, some golf crazed collector would have snapped this up post haste; no markings; and finally, no gophers on the golf course.

I'm alright
Don't nobody worry 'bout me  ;D

Looks like its also been posted on ebay answers, but they seem very postive about it.

I'm with Wayward, not necessarily because of it being papier mache, you do find an awful lot of Victorian Drinks trays that are made of papier mache (and nice ones can fetch $$$$!) , but they are heavily laquered. This one doesn't look lacquered to me. Also, as the other chap maintains it is identical, I'd have thought that a piece like this would have been hand-coloured, so why do they both have the absence of an essential part of his anatomy?  JMO   ;D

I do not put much stock in any eBay forum because the same sellers that sell repro junk are on there giving answers. If that tray is 100 years old and is authentic, I would be extremely surprised.

The tray on eBay went unsold...surprise! I would like to see a pic of both of these trays side by side. If they have the same crotchless golfer, they are fake. IMO.

Agree completely .. I was a little taken aback by the subjective positive responses, especially as there was no link to any photo!

i asked for advice not comment about his crouch mybe yall should forget about his crouch and focus on finding a  answer for my question if this is how people treat people here i see why ebay is so famous sorry if i offend anyone here but come on paper mache was common in that time and people did dress that way back then when you find when a item and date it then u can compare dress and crouches   :P

It is nothing at all to do with which part of his anatomy is missing, but the fact that the same part is missing from two identical trays. That would suggest that they were probably not hand-painted/coloured. No one person is likely to have made the same mistake twice, and unlikely that two people would make the same mistake.
If you hang around then you'll understand that the people on this forum are from all over, and do enjoy helping people when they can ... and also enjoy having a laugh once in a while. No offense was intended to anyone. I am guilty of poking fun at a tray posted on ebay, not your tray, as you haven't posted a pic of yours. If yours is different, then I'm sure that we'd all love to see it.

Hmmm, I think the comments on the eBay tray struck a raw nerve.  The comments were about the tray on eBay and the pic on there of the crotchless golfer illustration. Sorry that you took the comments and applied them to your tray.

Your question...

Please post a pic of your tray including the front and back so we can compare it to the tray that was on eBay. We are not a harsh lot but a very knowledgeable and fun lot. We do not hold our tongues when fakes are put out there as authentic which is what that eBay seller did. JMO.
