« on: July 01, 2011, 12:18:03 pm »
the vase on the left has some japanese character and the teapot on the right has no markings flat bottom and seemingly hand crafted.

i would appreciate all knowledge you may have on these items, thank you  ;D

If you are able, I would take clear pics of the bottom with any markings and someone on this forum should be able to help. It may take a few days for some of the members familiar with pottery/porcelain to be on here but they will definitely want more pics.

Vase on the right looks similar to many others that can be found at most import shops. Ginger jar form.  Might bring $10. bucks on a good day.  The teapot however is a better piece. It is spongeware, some is marked and some is not, looks like around `30ish !! Everyone loves the blue and white pieces. My grandmother had one very similar but well used. Unmarked it should still bring around $30. to $40. if in excellent condition depending on area you are in. If it has chips,, $10. to $15. !!

Agree with the previous remarks.

Need to see markings on bottom of oriental/asian piece.

The teapot/teacup combo has become exceedingly popular over the past 15 years and are sold worldwide.  New range from $10 - $50....used $8 - $12 in excellent shape.
I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

Thanks KC !! I am on dial up and the image download stopped before I could see the entire thing !! I was looking at the top half only when I posted that price. Couldn`t see the teacup on bottom till I  went back and looked again a few minutes ago !!  That will teach me to get impatient again !!
KC`s price is more in line on this one !!  Sorry !!

The Vase looks similar to a rose medallion type vase. Possibly Chinese import for European market. (Lots were imported.) See an appraiser before selling. If there are no markings at all underneath or inside at bottom it might be an older import. I have one a little larger and it was appraised at 2100.00. Though it dates from 1850.
