Antique rocking chair
« on: July 07, 2011, 02:40:47 pm »
my husband seen this rocking chair by the dumpster and thought it was really neat looking to put in our babygirls room , when we came home we have seen our cat's messing with some paper and realized it was a label from under the rocking chair, we couldn't really tell what was hand written but we read it was from the Standard chair company union city PA chair number 354 we tried looking up information on more about the chair and what it was worth or even a picture of this chair the only thing we found was a description on the chair which it matched 100% , please help me out with any more information you can find :) thank you so much

Many pressed back chairs were made from the late 20`s to 40`s both dining chairs and rocking chairs and by many companies.   The style was revived in the late 80`s and early 90`s !!  Value wise,, not a lot with so many available!! Your rocker is probably in the $50. range !! However it is a nice find at a dumpster !! I would have grabbed it too !!  Not familiar with Standard Chair Co. Other than I have seen labels on several types of chairs !!

Aww! Who would throw a lovely old rocker like this into a dumpster? Three cheers for Hubby for rescuing it! We love rockers here, but in general people consider them "old-fashioned" and they don't have a lot of monetary value. However, nothing beats a rocking chair at the end of a long day. In that they are priceless!  ;D
